About SLnet Email List

What is it: SLNet is a moderated electronic mailing list. It is one of the oldest sources of news and information about Sri Lanka on the Internet. SLNet was born as a small private mailing list circa 1987.

What's in it: SLNet distributes news and information that is obtained from reputable news sources and independent groups. It also carries announcements, requests for help and occational press releases.

Why is it moderated: SLNet is being moderated to keep it free from flame wars. While we do not intend to censor anyone, the SLNet moderator tries to stick to a set of rules and guidelines.

Can I post something on SLNet: If you would like to send an e-mail to the SLNet, please think twice and read our guidelines before doing so.

Who pays for it: Funding for the purchase of news is proviced by the non-profit organization called Lanka Academic Network (LAcNet). LAcNet, in turn, is funded by voluntary contributions from those who find its services useful, including SLNet members like yourself.
